The highest price you will see this year (if you are lucky and no buy out) will be no higher then 45.

Tim,

You must be pretty bullish, as SSB (with a buy recommendation) has a target price of just 35. <G>

Actually, ending the year at 45 would be close to a 100% gain for ASND. Given the conservative stance and conservative numbers still being advanced by ASND management (15-20% revenue growth for 98), I think you are correct in not expecting anything higher than 45 by year end.

It will take significant news, or an acceleration of anticipated revenues, to justify a price much higher than that. I do think that revenues will in fact accelerate in 2H98 (Ashby has said double-digit sequential revenue growth in 3Q and 4Q), so perhaps there is room for greater price appreciation.

External to ASND, it has been said that declining interest rates can cause an expansion of p.e. ratios. That would be another potential cause for greater price appreciation. On the flip side, there is Asia.

Well Tim, I see you're upping your max price by $5.00 already.
Well, If you are game, I accept your wager at the new price.
I'll go in for up to $50 (Pizza, steaks - anything you want).

Oh, by the way. Did you see ASND's latest "Major" contract, announced today?

Ascend Communications today announced a major contract with Telewest
Communications to extend its UK cable network. Beating off competition from 10 other companies, Ascend will integrate its CBX 500 ATM switches within Telewest's existing Frame Relay network, one that is already based on Ascend's world leading B-STDX Multiservice Frame Relay switch.

The enhanced network, which will attain national coverage over the next two years, allows Telewest to offer both business customers and residential customers leading-edge cable services. The current Telewest Frame Relay network supports data traffic, however, ATM was necessary in order to support integrated services such as voice and video, and to upgrade the available bandwidth.

<< Just a little history on the asnd thread:

It never fails everytime asnd moves up a little everyone acts like the stock is going to hit 80 in weeks. Get a grip, even though I believe the worse is over it is still going to be a very long haul. I doubt asnd will see the low 20's but plan on seeing the high 20's again. The highest price you will see this year (if you are lucky and no buy out) will be no higher then 45 >>

Get a grip? A lot of A$ND shareholders had a rough '97. Now that A$ND is rebounding, why do you insist on spoiling their fun by taunting them?

Here is a little history lesson for you Tim.
