Dan, Is this why I can't get a Q phone in the Great White North?

Raj, I can get a QPC 2700 (or Sony equivalent) for $110 US if I sign up for $17.50 US a month for one year. I think $300 per phone may be a bit high for the Q's margin. Also, I remember reading in the Annual Report that production at year-end was 500,000 per month. I recently read that they had increased production to 1 million. I would imagine that the 500,000 conisted of a high proportion of QPC type phones (lower margin). Given what I have seen in stores here in the GWN and in California, I would suspect that a good percentage of current production is also in the QPC category. Inventory build up at the Q and in the channel will account for a high proportion of the initial production. I would not be surprised to see the big increase in phone revenue taking a couple of qtr's to reach the P & L. Then agian, maybe the Q has some creative accountants like the rest of the .... When do they book phone revenue? Looking fwd to your analysis.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the clarification.

So even the sony phones made in Q.P.E which may have nothing to do with Qualcomm design will have their manufacturing revenues as a part of Qualcomm's revenue..hmm.. this does throw a rench into my calcs...

thanks lot anyway
