Paul, I would try the Norton Crash Guard. I downloaded as shareware
when they first gave it away. But basically it can catch some
illegal operations before win95 dies and allow you to close the application and continue

I use an ISP, and IE and Netscape seem okay most of the time.
Also, most ISP's will self configure. I'm not sure what AOL offers
that is worth paying extra for.

These things are too complictated for the average techie. It could be hardware, MSFT bug, AOL bug,
configuration. Win95 is just not a very robust operating system.

paul,
aol has lots of bugs in its programs, my dad is member and he's constantly being cut off.

go ahead and e-mail the other member copies of those files, he can't do anything with them in reference to your computer. he's probably just going to check if your computer is doing something it shouldn't be. but make sure when he sends them back to you that you look at them through a document viewer (ms notepad or wordpad) so that you know what changes he's made-- that way if his changes don't work you can change them back.
just get the changes he recommends vs. entire files, otherwise it will take too long to figure out what he's changing
