I like Basmati too..anyways supposedly 41 million Americans are without healthcare and people who have hmos are complaining more and
more that they can't get treated for what they need. Nobody appears
to pay attention to down the road scenario where preventative medicine
will save the system big big bucks down the road. Most articles I
read also suggest that health costs have bottomed and are on their
way up. There was a character in shaw's Major Barbara...Undershaft..a think an arm's dealer. He did far more good for all the wrong reasons where Major
Barbara who had all the great ideals did zip..
I don't believe that the job market here is tight as most everybody
says. High tech jobs are overflowing but qualified applicants are
few and far between.
So far I haven't found any articles suggesting what I think will be
the truer economic impact from the meltdown in Asian currencies.
Most Machevillian business men will view this as manna(sp) from heaven. More and more businesses will probably move their manufacturing plants to those areas and pay those citizens even less.
Less and less foreign businesses will start plants here.
I think our government is focussing on reducing our debt which makes
the budget "surplus" produce laughter..great propaganda..
The low interest rates they have to pay on their debt might be part
of their agenda to lower the debt so I would think the government has
a vested interest in keeping it as low as possible. They can also
rationalize and say it is good for corporate america but they totally
neglect people living on fixed income and I have no idea what that
percentage is. Also I don't know how much tax revenue has been gained
by all the mania trading..the more capital gains, the more revenues
from paper..They have a vested interest in keeping this market going.
I don't believe in big government but most people seem to be focussing
on it not spending money on the needy and not how it profits big
business.
