Hey guys, before you make any trades today, check out the new charts at my web site.

lonestar.texas.net
Then click on default.htm

The charts are under "Check this Out!" (you can't miss it).
I think I've stumbled on to something with the correlation between the XOI and the OSX. The XOI seems to move up BEFORE the OSX and more decisively.
I also found a trading system using stochastics on the weekly data that gives very reliable buy signals. I've got a buy signal on the XOI which occured on 1/12/98. The buy signal on the OSX has not yet triggered, but it will if it continues up or even flat for the next couple of days.
This has changed my whole outlook on this sector. I think the turnaround is definetly in place. I'm no longer so hot to sell when the OSX gets to its 40day WMA. If I'm right, it will break through this quickly and remain in an uptrend. I'm thinking about maxing out my margin again (God help me).

Thomas: The fact that Japan has been in a prolonged Bear Market despite falling interest rates IS disturbing. But I think they have been in an exceptional financial climate with their Banking system in trouble (like the US in the 80's but much worse) and the bubble bursting in their real estate market. These deflationary pressures have been overwhelming their inadequate stimulation from monetary easing. We (the U.S. economy) are in a very different financial environment, still amenable to the increased growth that falling interest rates allows. (I think).
Thanks for clearing that up about EG. It was driving me crazy trying to find it on the web. Do you know where it might be?
