Elmer, I send you a new clip from the Arizona republic. Also it was the lead story on all the radio stations new reports all day today! People are scratching there heads listening to the good earnings report and then the job cut report. Call any AZ station and ask them to read you the report. You can then type your apology here on the thread! Otherwise I'll just remember to kick you ass the first time I see you!

Elmer & Greg, Elmer I think you might owe Greg an apology. Here is the article that he is refering to. Greg but maybe restructuring is a better term for the move since most employees will find jobs at other Intel plants. Intel to cut 1,100 jobs in revamp The Arizona Republic Jan. 14, 1998 Intel Corp.'s huge restructuring of two Chandler plants will result in the loss of 1,100 jobs in the next year or so. The chipmaker announced the reorganization Monday but offered few details on the number of positions to be cut. Spokeswoman Jeanne Forbis said Tuesday that 900 of 2,000 employees in the affected plants have been offered jobs in the "new" organization, which will focus on design and development rather than manufacturing. The factories do some of each now. The 1,100 workers whose positions are being eliminated will be encouraged to find jobs elsewhere at Intel, she said. The company says another Intel plant in Chandler has about 500 openings. "We're pretty confident we're going to place the majority, if not all of these employees," elsewhere at Intel, she said. Those cut include administrators, technicians and engineers. Employees will be able to look for a job on company time, and some will get bonuses to stay through the transition. Dave Bigos, spokesman for Chandler, said the city is not too concerned about the job cuts by its largest employer given Intel's growth elsewhere in the city and the low unemployment rate.
