I think you should have had a third option- I like both. My choice depends on the price and the type of book that it is. My opinion only. Jerry

Looks like you've opened up a can of worms as there is obviously no black and white answer, everyone is different and they all have different needs and deficiencies. As a senior with developing eye problems, the ability to zoom text is critical, love reading stuff on my iPad, easy to read in the darkened room, the weight and and size of the tablet is actually superior to that of an open book. The main problem is the movement of various reading items, files, PDFs etc. is relatively complex. As an aside, I also use one note for taking handwritten notes about whatever. Unfortunately it hasn't helped my handwriting because I can't read my iPad nor my notes written on paper :-)
