The connector is a dot called "global warming". You see, or rather you don't want to see, increasing levels of CO2 causes the planet to warm up. As the planet warms, droughts intensify, bark beetles have 2 generations a year instead of one, and the jet stream becomes floppy and stuck in the same place.
