What is <the core switching>? Please correct me if I am wrong, any hardware expert here? A good article on differences and performance potential of routers (CSCO domain) and core switches (formerly CSCC domain). nelsonpub.com ASND has two types of swicthes: WAN Access switch to interface incoming modem calls (these are RAS/RAC hardware with NavisAccess software) and ATM core switch to propagate data packets to Internet backbone or corporate intranet LAN (carrier-class Frame Relay WAN switching, see biz.yahoo.com ). I think the terminology here is quite confusing for such choice of names. By the way, sales of WAN Access switch is slowing down while sales of ATM core switch is soaring due to backbone bandwith hunger and IP Navigator support.
