You didn't mention you know a lot about marine science (to me). Decades ago I became a hagfish fan club member so I know whales for example are recycled somewhat.

But the end result is carbon being buried. Perhaps you know just how many megatons of carbon per year are buried since that's a basic boundary to marine life.

Once carbon is buried it doesn't come up until it's fired out a volcano at subduction zones, or floats up through zeolites to oil and gas deposits or leakage to the surface. That's a very long time = forever as far as people are concerned.
