Truth is that no one can defend the GOP nor the Democrats. They are both batshit crazy. Far right and far left and both ideologies discredited. BTW, you should be careful with absolutes like, "There isn't a single intelligent republican on the planet and it's wise to distance yourself from them." That is provably false. There are plenty of intelligent Republicans and Democrats both. Intelligence doesn't necessarily mean they are doing what is good for the American people nor does it mean they are infallibly correct in their policy stances, especially in a system like ours where cronyism and corporate influence has gone extreme.
