>>How do you line up with someone who is not data driven, or open to any kind of peer review?

Peer review does not work. My personal experience with it is considerable but it isn’t a topic I care that much about. For me it adds nothing of value.

Not all people are “data driven”, at least on the same level I am. That doesn’t mean they are idiots. The world needs people of all kinds.

Do you think surgeons are “data driven”? They may have been and some are, but many have been doing the same procedures the same way for decades. Women were subjected to radical mastectomies for the better part of a century before the first clinical trial testing it. Worse, even after is was shown to be no more effective than lumpectomy, it was continued for a decade or two.

The US has the best prostate cancer cure rate in the world, due mainly to the PSA test. Yet, there has been a persistent effort to limit access to annual PSAs. Similarly, with mammography and colonoscopy.

We need some people who are not data driven but are other types of thinkers. And sometimes, data changes over time and decisions aren’t that easy to change.
