8/24/2018 Contest update As you may have already heard, in a “Fox & Friends” interview President Trump warned that if he was impeached the stock market “would crash” and "everybody would be very poor." I’m guessing lots of investors are willing to take that chance. Meanwhile, biotechs had a good week. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 12.99% YTD (vs. up 8.74% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 10.11% YTD (vs. up 8.94% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 13.40% YTD (vs. up 10.74% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (IXIC) was up 15.10% YTD (vs. up 13.22% YTD a week ago). There was no change in the Contest’s “Top Three.” KMASTR’s portfolio, up 85.10% YTD, remained our leader, ALIAS’s portfolio, up 70.91% YTD, and THID’s portfolio, up 59.54% YTD, continued in second and third place. At Friday's close, 45 of the 62 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 35 beating the NBI and 30 beating the SPSIBI. The 230 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 7.51% and a median YTD loss of -6.62%, with 101 showing a gain for the year. Below is the Top Ten list.
