To demonstrate the problem IBM has, they have problems keeping IFMX out
of their own hardware accounts. Have you noticed how many of IFMX data
warehouse wins have been on IBM SP2 hardware. Just 2 are the MCI (about
a 110 node SP2--2nd biggest data warehouse after WalMart) and the
"petabyte" research project at the New York University (500 node SP2)

Mark,

You left out Fidelity, First Union and Sears on SP2. There are a few more smaller ones, but I can't recall the names. About IBM, sure they want to push their system, but their attitudes have changed a lot. I've heard even though not seen yet about their willingness to accept other system vendors' wins to push their software.

>>>For example, MSFT claims
"row-locking" capability for SQL Server 6.5 (the
current shipping version), but it works only for
"insert" actions, not for "update" or "delete".<<<

Then MSFT has a lot of nerve to call it 'row locking'. Row locking is irrelevant for brand new records, that by definition there is no contention for yet.
