>>Well, we bought Louisiana from the French and won Texas,
1/2 of Calif. and the Southwest from Mexico in a border war.
We also won the Phillipines, Cuba, Porto Rico and a little
more from Spain in 1898, but we didn't keep most of the
territory. The US isn't really Colonialist, like England,
Spain and France.<<

It’s all perspective, you say “won” Texas, Calif.etc.
Mexico would say “stole”

>>The US isn't really Colonialist, like England,

England has not Colonized another country since the 1800s and all former Colonies have independence today.

American doesn’t use the word Colonize and we are taught Americans don’t colonize.
“Colonize definition: send a group of settlers to (a place) and establish political control over it.”

However, using the word “won” Texas and the Southwest instead of “Colonize” doesn’t mean we didn’t.
Ditto Philippines and other countries. Just saying.....
