<<And he said this for some very good reason.>>>>>

and.....what are the reasons???? I am very interested. Listen, it is not a matter of whether I believe the high ranking officials or not,but rather it is about knowing the economic, social and political reasoning behind these decisions and/or actions and its implications. It is of particular interest to me as to how China would deal with South Asian countries when it comes to exports. I think most of the SEA currencies are now devalued to such an extent that the export advantage in terms of price is in their advantage.

If you know the answeres or if you have any thoughts on the subject I would very much like to hear them,if you have time that is.

"as long as I am in power, there will be no devalutaion of the *****"
They all say this (finance ministers, economic czars). They try
their hardest to maintain it. That's why when the dam breaks,
it's a big one. And as men of honor, they resign.

However, I thought your follow-up post was interesting, about
how the traded sector is a much smaller part of China's economy
than that of smaller Asian nations, so
it is easier for them to hold the line. But it may be traumatic
when that sector starts hurting, nonetheless. We shall see...
India too is not as trade-dependent as the smaller countries,
yet the rupee has been hurt.
