I have been watching almost exclusively foreign films for several years now and am very heartened by the humanity and progressive message they are sending even in countries one would not expect to see it.

One interesting observation is that you will find virtually NO conservative themes, they are all progressive. Funny how few ever make this observation, just like there are few conservative comedians. The world is undergoing a cultural revolution not unlike we had here in the 60's replacing old primitive norms and mores of racism, misogyny and caste systems with modern norms and mores of equality and humanity and the rule of law.

There is a new show on Netflix called ultraviolet. It is a simple detective series, but it is in Poland which is so right wing, but super duper liberal and seems to chide the polish government.

I have been surprised at how bold much of the cinema is even in dangerous right wing countries e.g movies Miss Dynamite a Mexican cinema very hard on drug cartels and Rosario Tijeras, a Columbian movie about a poor wild women who two wealthy men fall in love with and is about the divide between rich and poor and drug cartels-second highest grossing movie in their history. I loved it.

I had two Korean students for about six months and heard exactly the same message from the young daughter. Her mother tried to be polite, but it was clear she agreed too.
