Randy, I agree that the street views the insider purchases as perfunctory; however, I do not. The last round of buying -- Sept.to Dec. 1996 involved only Frost (and token buy of 500 shares by Haio, director) but this time around we have 25,000 shares by a director and 10,000 shares by a newly employed president of a subsidiary (employed 7/97).

There were no significant drug approvals in 1997. It is a drug company? I assume they were busy during 1997 making drugs (the kind that make people better hopefully) and so I expect 1998 to be much better than the street is giving credit. The 5 million repurchase and the insider buys support this hypothesis.

The Short Term Stock Selector has Ivax listed as a sell. Back in September 97 he had it listed as a buy at 7.875 and he took a nice percentage loss on his position. I believe he will take another loss here.

The price action looked pretty bad on Friday at the end of the day, which causes me to think that the rally isn't over. I have noticed that the stock usually rallies or tanks after a very weak or very strong close, respectively.

I see on the Yahoo! board that Frost stepped up to bat again in December for 25,000 more shares. I don't know if that's good news or bad for our share price in the short term. I will soon be logged on to an up-to-the-minute insider reporting service, so we won't be dependent on dubious posts.
