Tom, I was not intending that my comments be taken as US bashing. In my experience all governments tend to act in political self interest ahead of the rights of their own citizens or the overall good. I do have an issue though with the mainstream US press. World news coverage is dismal and is very limited and anything detrimental to the US image is conveniently forgotten. This is very patriotic but not terribly balanced. In the matter of South Korea, if they were providing cheap food to help the Korean people, this would be admirable. They are NOT - they are just providing credit to buy more US goods, the very thing that got the South Koreans in trouble in the first place. I also see in this mornings news reports that the South Koreans have seen the light and are going to put most of the Gold they collected into their reserves. Only a small proportion will be sold on the open market.

The rest of the world is perfect, especially Canada.>> I doubt it was Vet's intention, nor mine to suggest either. It may be difficult for you to understand, but the rest of the world is _forever hearing about how good the US is ... and it is a good country - there is no doubt about it. That being said, there is also much good in other countries ..... but they never seems to get the recognition they rightly deserve. As an American, you _should be proud of your country, because it is a good country - you have done a lot of good for many peoples .... but, so have many others countries .... _perhaps all some of us are saying is, get to know us a bit better .... make a little room on the world stage, so we can all enjoy the accolades for our collective efforts, in making this place we call "earth" a better place for all .... it really is a group effort. MB
