Dulane, re: <<..what do you make of today's action?>>

It seems volume is normal and perhaps it may pick up in the afternoon before the close. More interesting however, the daily variance is tight.. The Thursday hi-low trading range for CPQ is very close to 2 dollars (Please, see below list). Today, if we exclude the first hour which is usually aberrant due to the night effect, we have about a 0.50 cents trading range. Here, are the last four Thursday's trading range for CPQ

Date....Low........High
1/08....58-5/16....60-3/8
12/18...53-5/16....55-7/16
12/11...56.......58-7/8
12/4....62-7/8...66

As we go along, if a sudden pressure from either the call or put side develops, the "tug of war" supposition will hold. In the case of a peaceful Thursday and Friday (normal volume without big blocks but a tight trading range) one can think that puts or calls are most options plays to settle the price around or little bit above 59 dollars.

My two cents.
