Although this is the Intel thread I feel that this conversation is worthwhile to Intel folks as well.

If someone like TXN were to buy AMD, a lot of the reasons behind why AMD loses money on each unit would vanish instantly. Here are a couple: No more Jerry! (that's accounts for half the loss) and No more Jerry's ego..(that's the other half). Not to mention TXN which has always been fairly decent at yielding well should be able to help with the AMD yield problems.

Now I know Yousef etc. will want to get into a process tech debate over this, but that's not my point. TXN has more..what's the word.. discipline than AMD..

PS. If I had to put a price on AMD technology it would be $25 a share less otustanding debt.. (which I am assuming would be at least $5 a share)
