I forgetwhether Lucent makes their own ASIC or whether they buy the ASIC from QCOM. Anyone remember. It might make a difference for how we value this news.

ATLANTA, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Lucent Technologies said
Thursday it received contracts to build personal communications
services wireless networks for telephone service providers in
Georgia, South Carolina and California worth almost $100
million.
The company said Central Wireless Partnership purchased $50
million in equipment to create PCS networks in California.
The company said three celluar companies in Georgia will
buy $44.8 million of CDMA (code division multiple access) and
PCS equipment with Lucent over the next five years.

I presume you are referring to Rostov-on-Don, the city. As many of you probably already know (I've been reading your posts, after all) Rostov-on-the-Don was a particularly ugly porno flick that got very little play outside Russia.<vbg>

On a lighter note, how will the RBOC downgrade play in the wireless arena, if at all. TIA.
