S&W Seed Company (SANW) - starter position today at $3.10/share

I like their overall concept of hybrid seed used in bio fuel. Could see their exit plan selling and/or licencing to large seed grower/manufacturer. Company located near U.S. Davis one of the US AG extension schools (and my alma mater, class of 80).

Have added this to my AG basket of stocks. Looking to add more ADM and other Ag related companies especially w/ U.S. Ag production (highest ever U.S. soybeans & Corn) and little to no tariffs by Mexico.

My value theme is to build my Ag basket of U.S. stocks and sell some Oil/NG stocks to finance the portfolio position.

I did verify that SANW is selling 16% below stated BV. Company still loses money so this position is all about future potential of hybrid seed development.

Re: SANW (S&W SEED COMPANY) Doubeled up on position w/ a Buy @ $2.80/share

Added more shares to my previous buy as company posted an EPS miss which appears to be impacted by tighter water regulations in Saudi Arabia which affected alfalfa seed revenues. Company has the most efficient hybrid water efficient seeds in alfalf and clover. There are many other markets they can expand into (ie California) where water conservation is needed.

For fiscal 2018, revenue from Saudi Arabia declined sharply to US$1.5mln compared to US$12.1mln in fiscal 2017, and US$26mln in fiscal 2016. Revenue in the United States, S&W's largest market, was US$41.7mln in fiscal 2018, slightly up when compared to US$41.5mln in fiscal 2017.

Company is looking to other hybrid water efficient seed crops that include sun flower and forage sorghum.

Australia is a large growing market. S&W Seed Company Expands Australian Commercial Sales Organization with Appointment of Territory Sales Manager in New South Wales - Australia

SANW still a small position in the AG basket but is a value pick (selling below BV) and still very small a/ potential for huge future growth.

SANW has been an amazing poor performer. Huge boom in AG products just like 2010 and yet shares have lost 2/3 of their value.

The reason is continued losses. this company never gained scale. It shows how difficult it is to break into a seed business. FWIW, I should have kept my CTVAS stock.
