IMO, the following is quite impressive. Total $Sales continue to rise even as unit prices fall. i.e. Unit volumes are skyrocketing. This, IMO, is quite bullish for leading edge equipment companies. Ian. Semiconductors (SIC 3674) - Upswing Continues Semiconductors continue on the upswing as the 12-month change returned to the positive side of the ledger for the first time in 1997 in November. The month was 5.2% above November 1996 and the 12 months ended November 1997 grew 2.1% over the 12 months ended November 1996. The standard end-of-year comparison is expected to show 5.4% total growth for 1997 over 1996. Semiconductors are still facing some downward price pressure and companies are feeling some nervousness about the long-term effect of the Asia/Pacific economic situation. Overall, however, the semiconductor sector is growing again.
