Almost all medical people agree that the evidence for any organic damage from marijuana is limited (to non-existent). There are some psychiatric correlations that are disturbing. My anecdotal experience is that it can be hallucinogenic in stronger doses and I could see how the proclivity to produce anxiety and paranoia could indicate connections to such mental diseases. However, there are benefits that have pharmaceutical indications and with far fewer adverse events and a higher therapeutic ratio. These have not been properly evaluated consciously as part of an anti-minority and anti-counter culture agenda. There is a 20 thousand year history of its use and association with humans, both pragmatic and utilitarian, as well as its shamanistic and medical use. Despite my life time use, none of my kids use it now and two have actually never tried it. I don't advocate it, I didn't smoke it in front of them, but there are many reasons why stoners would be better fellow citizens than people intoxicated to a similar level of impairment on alcohol.

As a person very familiar with both, weed is better than alcohol. It's really not even a question, in my mind.
