"It never made sense in the first place that Novell would fund a

startup to compete with some of it's own products."

Well guess who it might have made sense to. Marengi, and the rest of those ...... Don't forget Schmidt was handed this decision as a fait accompli.

He said he would look into it (circa Comdex) and I posted that information here. He has and now he has moved decisively to straighen it out.

That is exactly the kind of leadership many of us demanded of a Novell CEO. Now we got it.

Either Novell is an Internet company or it isn't. If it is an Internet company then why should it let a profit center like the Netscape web server on top of Netware 5.0 slip into somebody elses hands.

Schmidt is protecting the interests of the shareholders. When's the last time we saw someone doing that in the upper reaches of Novell management?

Hi Steve,
>How could the company be folded back into Novell. It's my understanding there was private investment capitol that funded a large portion of the startup. Seems to me the company would have to be purchased. This brings us back to the questions no one would
answer...who funded how much of this startup. I'll bet Netscape had little or no financial involvement.

Steve, this looks to me like creative accounting to enrich someone!!!
Regards, Dieter
