From what Frank has told us on this thread you just can't crank up the clockspeed of the 6x86MX that easily because of the design.
Let's face it. Intel would be having a lot harder time selling Pentium IIs that run at Pentium Pro speeds (180-200) if if in the real world they were the sapeed real world speed. Can you imagine Intel selling a Pentium II-200 against a PentiumMMX-233? A lot harder than selling a Pentium II-233 or 266 against a Pentium II-200. The higher clockpeeds are Intels big advantage...
