That is a very informative article. I have a home with two tankless water heaters, apparently nice units and both installed during new construction. Obviously, I hope they last forever but know they won't. My best hope is relentless maintenance.

My previous home had regular water heaters that pooped-out at about 17 years, which was better than average. After looking at the tankless as an alternative I concluded that was a foolish quest. The cost of replumbing the gas lines alone made it a non-starter. I hope Josh reads this. Regular water heaters are cheap and easy to replace. And no moving parts, just flush once per year and replace the anode every 3-5 years.

At least that's how I think about it.
