I know it has. Planned obsolescence is something I believe in. A shame. We bought a second-hand washing machine from a guy in Castle Rock and it works great. Heck, buy old and fix 'em!
The condo I bought when I moved from my house had the original furnace and it worked beautifully!

Aren't most of today's microwaves made by the same manufacturer? I thought that manufacturer actually was GE. I had to replace the dishwasher in my condo before I sold it. When I shopped I noticed how similar the major brands were and the Home Depot guy told me they were all made by the same company.
I lived in that condo for 35 years and replaced the microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher 3 times each.

I have always bought Danby microwaves. My last Dandy was 99 dollars it lasted 13 years used everyday. I just replaced it with another one, a Danby as well, 99 dollars.

We bought a GE duel fuel electric oven with gas burners in 2004 for $600

It wore out and we wanted another and exact same kitchen stove now cost $3000 in 2016.

More $$$ today! Great stove for $600.
