If truth be told, I'm not such a great believer in polls. I think "Statistical Science" needs to be taken with a certain amount "of salt".

I mean, one is expecting the answers one gets from a small sample of people, e.g. about 1000, to reasonably accurately represent the views and opinions of hundreds of thousands or even millions of individuals. A lot can also depend on where a "sample" is taken.
No wonder they often get it very wrong, and possibly, some of the time, for the reason that you mentioned.

The way I see it the most accurate and most representative "Poll" is a General Election, preferably one where the voters are properly registered and can be identified as eligible to vote.
