IMO, I think the analysts are looking at AMD vs. Intel backwards. They speculate about how much market share inroad that AMD will gain at Intels expense, and fail to see the obvious. This game is classic cat and mouse. The cat could bite off the mouses head at any time (cutting prices enough to drive AMD into bankruptcy), but it won't (FTC, DOJ). AMD as an independant entity won't really grow and won't really die. MSFT vs. AAPL is a similar analogy. It will be interesting to see if any white knight will take over AMD and attempt to fight the cat.
