Actually, there is, and it is precisely the same way so-called climate science is tested. But econometricians are better at it.

As a graduate assistant that is all I did for a solid year. And when done correctly, unbiased, and with solid data, it could be tested.

The problem is many economists are, like climate scientists, influenced by political/religious views more than the science of econometrics. I have a lot of confidence that over the next ten or so years we can actually test some of these more complex regressions.

Personally, I hope to focus on solving horse racing outcomes with the application of those techniques.
