His complete lack of understand of accepted ways in which an economy works is startling. I guess his answer to the housing mess in 2008 would be to build more houses!! No one on the left or right - except the tiniest number on the lunatic fringe - believes this! He needs an econ 100 class for beginners.

The point is the productivity occurred in spite of there being no market. Obviously, lost on you two geniuses.

It is this productivity -- fed by innovation -- that gives rise to demand for products. As without productivity first, there is no money with which consumers can pay for goods and services.

You do not improve productivity by giving people money. That is the point, and it isn't complicated.

What you MIGHT do is help marginally to bring AD to a de minimis level. But if you want growth, it must be done through innovation. The way you spur innovation is through targeted tax cuts as Trump did and as Obama failed miserably in doing.

The reason the economy didn't come back in short order was that there was no confidence in Obama's ability. Obviously, there was from the minute he was elected great confidence in Trump's ability. As there should have been.
