Mike,
The right amount for you is different than for me. You have to look at your own portfolio, risk appetite and diversification. I've been fortunate investing so I have a decent sized portolio that is well diversified. I have a good size investment in Lidak most of which I built starting Dec 96. 90% of my purchases have been below 2.

I don't look at stock purchases in numbers of shares but in amount of capital i.e. I decide I want to invest lets say $10,000 and then just figure out how many shares.

I don't think this changes the timeline I envisioned but strengthens the probability.

Henry

Mike your investment style depends on three things.. How much money you can invest and how much research are you willing to do, and how much volatility are you really able to live with. If you backstroke through the thread and you see the negativity...you can say in hindsight this is poor research and or poor risk tolerance.
but for me I usually accumulate a block of stock over time depending on how the research is going and how confident I am getting. then I double from there... as the picture improves with earnings materializing. If I am wrong I am in a world of hurt... this is why averaging in a position slowly over time makes sense to me. If you recall I bought 1k last week during maximum market pessimism.. (have room for 1k more...)at 1 something... ahead of this week's rally. My average entry price is about 1.70 or so... I did not roll it because if it takes off tomorrow I want to own it not watch it from the sides. I am aware technically it will retrace now but news transcends technicals and we don't know tomorrow's news... besides I think we have a long shot at 10 dollars by summer... and that is a nice intermediate tgt..
