I would guess that the woman represents a part of you. The Sikh perhaps symbolizes an authority figure. Someone who has a commanding presence, someone who you are a little bit afraid of in real life. Perhaps even your father. The tranquility of the setting before the arrival of this powerful person, perhaps indicates that your life is a happy one, except for the power this other personality has over your life. Is there anyone like that in your life? Perhaps your father or boss?

I would guess that the first happy part of the dream represents the obscene profits you and your wife made investing in emerging markets. The rich furnishings, the jewels, symbolize the quondam wealth of Southeast Asia. And then the scene turns dark: the woman who flees and hides is Indonesia. The woman who stays, already beaten to a pulp, is South Korea. The Sikh is the IMF. The Sikh attacks YOU because sooner or later we will ALL pay for this mess, one way or another.
