My admittedly flippant comment was, I believe, to the point. Gabriela had made a pertinent (in her words facetious) reply to a poster who had questioned a GSC comment on gold as a commodity (I think GSC's point was that gold is the longest enduring commodity and would soon return to prominence when the US$ returns to earth from its untenably lofty current status). The poster asked why GSC assumed gold would retake that position rather than some other (than the US$)paper currency. Gabriela said sure, but why not strawberries or some other perishable commodity? Then followed my response, for which I apologize if any feel it was inappropriate.
