“There is no difference between communism and socialism, except in the means of achieving the same ultimate end: communism proposes to enslave men by force, socialism—by vote. ... Both “socialism” and “fascism” involve the issue of property rights. The right to property is the right of use and disposal.”

The differences between Socialism, Communism, and Democratic Socialism are only academic and meaningless when implemented in real life. The common thread is they all three destroy Capitalism and Freedom and end in despotism and poverty.

The Russians called it the Soviet Socialist Republic. The word Republic didn't change the horrors that country imposed on its people until it fell apart.

The Chinese called it the People's Republic of China. The word Republic hasn't changed the total control that country has imposed on its people and the tightening noose of social monitoring and loss of freedom the people are enduring.

The North Koreans called it the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The words Democratic or Republic haven't changed the absolute hell the people live in today. That country is nothing but a large concentration camp.

The Venezuelans call it the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. The word Republic didn't stop them from being in the midst of a Socialist induced collapse that has eclipsed that of the Weimar Republic.

The Germans of the Hitler era called their party the National Socialist German Worker's Party, which later became the Third Reich under Hitler. The phrase Worker's Party didn't stop the Socialists under Hitler from murdering 6 million Jews, more than 10 million Russians, and causing the nightmare of WWII that echoes in hell today.

The Cubans call it the Republic of Cuba, but that hasn't changed the fact that Cubans on the ground lament with their famous quip, "Long live Socialism. We are all equal in our poverty."

The fact is that Socialism and Communism in all their forms, shapes, and sizes ALWAYS leads to tyranny and always leads to mass poverty. The only defense against that is Capitalism, which in all its imperfections is still the greatest engine of wealth, prosperity, and freedom the world has ever known and it has lifted more people out of poverty than any other economic mechanism in history. It is no accident that China has managed to lift hundreds of millions of their own people out of poverty, by simply opening up their economy to a little bit of Capitalism.

Socialism kills and Capitalism frees people. Those are historical facts.
