QUESTION: What does this mean? "Thursday January 15, 3:59 pm Eastern Time

NYSE pre-closing imbalances for January 15

NEW YORK, Jan 15 (Reuters) - The following are imbalances reported by the New York Stock Exchange Thursday.

NE 69200 SHARES IN EXCESS ON BUY SIDE"

Does it mean the Specialist ended the day long 69200 shares of NE,

or does it mean

that the day ended with someone wanting to buy 69200 more shares than were available?

How would this affect the open tomorrow?

TIA

Lucretius, re ERICY, what is the reasoning for shorting it? I've never traded ERICY, but I have traded NOKA, which is the other Nordic telecom equip maker. Recently rode NOKA up with calls, down with puts, and back up again with calls. However, long-term Nokia and Ericsson are winners. Check out the Nokia thread here at SI and read Tero's posts; there are very few threads at SI which have an industry expert the caliber of Tero who follow relevant industry events as closely and know what the events mean. Digital phones are the future, and ERICY and NOKA own the digital cellular handset market worldwide.

MOT still sells more phones in the US due to the fact that analog is still dominant in the US, but the future is digital cellular. The rest of the world has already largely abandoned analog cell phones. Nokia is the world leader in digital mobile handset sales; however Ericsson leads digital handset sales in the US (as of now, there is a possibility they could be overtaken by Nokia by year's end).
