CYMI seems to be going into its earnings announcement with a happy combination of good earnings and good forward prospects. With lots of announcements of big capital spending projects emphasizing 0.25 equipment, the big question seems to be how fast those orders get filled. Whether the 4Q shows modest growth or fireworks numbers, CYMI should be able to look forward to expanding sales through the end of the year and into the next. That's no small deal in a market where there is tremendous concern about weakening sales and poor earnings performances as the year goes on.
Since CYMI is currently priced as if a disaster will hit, there is relatively little downside risk from here for those who can hold on and wait it out. So far the waiting has been a nasty process as the price has gone from relatively cheap to absurd, but the value seems pretty clear. And the enormous negativity that has come forth even among diehard CYMI permabulls suggests we're pretty close to bottom. When everyone else gets clued in that the feared disaster is really a nonevent, the shares will be rediscovered and take off.
The irony is that, while some disenchanted investors are giving up and tossing the last of their CYMI shares, others are buying up the bargain stock that will be one of their top performing stocks for the year. I increased my stake today.
Good luck to everyone and hang on,
Baird
