I'm familiar with the Winframe-based applications such as NTrigue, WinDD and WinCenter that more or less turn NT Server into a timesharing system. MS's Hydra project is also based on this. But Winframe requires one to use a much-modified copy of NT Server, and then the NT Server is not good for much else. I haven't seen a shareware version of it but would be interested in learning more about it if you could find a firm reference.

I have seen shareware rshd and telnetd implementationss, but the ones that I have seen require giving end users "log on as service" right on the NT Server, which we can't do by our internal sercurity standards. My musing about the IIS solution was based on the fact that it should be generally functional out of the box, and the fact that it would provide the basis for a GUI without modification of either the server or client operating systems...
