Intel is still very much Compaq's major supplier. Compaq is only using AMD chips in a few low-end models. Intel still supplies (educated guess here) 95% of Compaq's chips. I have read that Compaq is in fact Intel's biggest customer.

Dulane,as an Intel shareholder I would certainly welcome this news.What is kinda strage though is that inspite of this volume/yield problem, I heard they are embarking on a more riskier approach,don't recall the details, I just saw the news flashing across the my screen the other day.

amd commented that they ghad the qty and if they didn't then ibm abd cpq wouldn't be customers.
i got a word from cpq this is true.
cpq wants more and more, but they are happy with what they are getting to the plan they set up
