The Wise Guy Defense techweb.com

Boy, that Wise Guy Defense sure is tricky -- alienate the judge, the computer manufacturers, and the public in one fell swoop. Microsoft's performance during the hearing is disingenuous. It's got the feel of bad faith. And worse, Microsoft doesn't seem to care.

Microsoft has always been the company we love to hate. But despite the knocks -- it makes second-rate software, it lacks innovation, it engages in suspect business practices -- Microsoft has always had our grudging respect as that great American icon: the Giant of Industry.

We've been willing to forgive it almost anything by virtue of its sheer accomplishment. But that's over now that Microsoft has put its arrogance on public display. Win, lose, or draw, this week, Microsoft lost the benefit of the doubt.

Bad news, Bill. We all have to sit in class. Nobody likes a wise guy.

Well, it's all part of the duality of man, the Jungian thing. Of course, to everything there is a season, and I'd never dream of cracking wise to a cop who pulled me over for speeding. But that's just me.

Cheers, Dan.

IsIE the first product to merge the everyday OS with WAN browsing? if it is, call it innovative.

It's not, does that mean it's not?

Reggie,

Don't know if its (web browser + OS) the first out the chute but for sure it's the first that's going to be declared illegal. Sorry, that's putting it too harshly. Maybe... what MSFT hath wrought (an integrated browser/OS) the courts are going to de-wrought. The Redmond boys still seem delighted that IE is really, really integrated with Windows ..... why are these people smiling???

regards, Mike msft=$75

Not inventing the WAN browsing but buying the competitor's alpha release and merging it with the OS is innovative? And what are the advantages of this? You would have no idea if they were integrated or not. Just as long as you can double click that icon.

But I can tell you probably think Windows is an operation system. It is not. It is a window manager that is an APPLICATION just like the Browser is. You probably also think you aren't running DOS any more since they changed the name to Windows95.

This "hole" thing reminds of a little kid caught in a lie which he lies more to try to cover up the first lie. Kind of like one of those sitcom shows.

If IE is integrated, that would mean one could not run without the other. IE could not run without Windows. Then how can there be a MAC version?
microsoft.com

And why is the MAC version only 5 megs but the windows is 40 megs?
