sunday early am

the news flow seems to be all centred about who alleged what when happened done by who to whom and how, whether they be sexual in nature or regarding missiles and planes, or willing trade of goods and services.

would guess we are moving towards something not good.

mean time, typhoon small damage repaired and huge mess cleaned up, time again for whatever passes as big thoughts or small wonders, and looking forward to breakfast. sadly our mango tree no longer seems to bears fruits, and banana plants all blown down. the papayas are not ready, so we must settle for supermarket fruits.

when i do whatever, i sometimes keep the video on. used to be cnbc but for the past few years just detective show dvd. i recommend "endeavour" - super show

found in my e-mail, a scribble or hand-drawn postcard by the coconut done when she visited some Yunnan village

i appreciate trump for his sense of humour zerohedge.com

coming across to some as egotistical rah rah sort, but as many range of reality-spectrum are circular in nature (ala extreme right vs extraordinary left are at times difficult to tell apart by folks in the middle), trump's self-take at times seem to cross over from egotistical to knee-slapping / good-fun / self-deprecating ways even if perhaps he does not mean to.

other observers may cross over from above to loathing, absolute loathing and very much loathing, given that trump himself is highly unlikely to veer towards self-loathing, for he loves himself very much

whether such regime / protocol is actually beneficial for a nation macro-wise when ruled so, the jury is out, but who knows, maybe it can work, perhaps worth a try

in the mean time, good fun to watch

someone in the e-mail chain noted about britain ... cannot vouch for veracity, astuteness, or anything else, other than the points may serve as data for triangulation. i appreciate these e-mails in a cafe setting, to soak in what might be useful w/ aid of others happy to share, and with none calling others olives

I dont want to bombard too many nails on this, but...

1. Kavanaugh may or may not have done part of what is alleged. The facts certainly are vague. Date. Times. People. The additional allegations appear more vague.

2. The 80s was a time of kids switching from drugs to alcohol. Alcohol can lead people/kids to be more volatile in many cases.

3. Most of us have examples we can refer to.

4. The biggest issue I think we can fault Feinstein/Democrats on is the timeline on bringing the accusations,...and their "strategy" ....Ockham razor fits perfectly well with this scenario.

5. I understand Congress members are immune to getting legal proceedings thrown at them. This is wrong.

6. Tech / social media has been weaponized.

7. Both sides have issues...

Like Britain the country is tearing itself apart..totally dividrd. Technology is a huge factor and no politician thus far has the guts to reign them in. The supreme Court issue is a bipartisan problem over the fate of liberal laws and you can see this as a cynical political attempt (why did she not make these sllegations earlier) or its about #metoo. Note that in the UK for example rape convictions are fun 25% year on year making women feel let down.

I fear Anil..my dear old buddy...is now seem by most young kids as a dinosaur or even worse dangerous. Young kids have been dramatically conditioned to view as normal what we were taught as abhorrent when we were growing up. The world had changed but the difficulty is that the moral landscape is being driven by anyone with a mobile phone and access to the Internet. The ability to hurl abuse by sticking labels on people has taken the place of dispassionate discourse. ...just look at the antisemitic slating of the labour leader in that respect. ..and there is a strong swing towards some firm if socialism. .. trump is the epitome of it... something that is scary to those living in hk and Asia whose success depends on unfettered capitalism

Times have changed and whether you think it's better or worse...it's certainly different.

Trump has been mostly an embarrassment (ex a few issues) and I could not even watch either CNN, NBC or the FOX side of coverage on him.

I had made a few assumptions on Kavanaugh and his partying. I know the 80s was big into drinking in high school, ... and I was going to fault him for not being more open on that. Especially after putting part of the morning aside to hear Ford today.

Then I tuned in five minutes into his part of the testimony after lunch to hear a man catching his breath over tears...and started making sure I heard the car radio or saw a TV for most of the next 3+ hours. I did not consider it "a performance"...

I started to see NBC coverage as off base more than FOX on this. And I started to see huge holes in what the Democrats had set up for this guy.

It was sickening. I cried a bit.

But more than anything I was saddened for this so called US democratic process and how far the media circus has got out of hand.

I sent to some yesterday the comments from the new owner of LA Times on US Social Media Impact...

My wife is a lawyer and is not pro or con one side or the other...but asking is not what Feinstein did a matter for law courts, which she should be brought in front of? Let alone the process Democrats undertook.... I get the concerns on Roe v Wade. I of course think we should live in the modern age here...

(My view a month or so ago was that the well has been poisoned on this process. This is still my view. Only I am shocked at how deep the disgrace is on Democrats here, and how NBC, etc. Have not a clue as to this...)
