TED: Re: burnout victims

As a burnout victim/programmer, I've never had a problem spending all my money. But I agree, it would be unfair to bring in fellow burnouts to fix this problem. On several occasions I have been involved with programming death marches. You know, the ones where you have two years worth of work but six months to finish it. The projects where management says: " If it is not finished, the world as we know it will end, just get it done!". The one's where all the salaried employees takes short cuts so the 80 hour week does not turn into a 120 hour week and the consultants go home at five. Been there..done that. Having witnessed many phantom "drop dead dates", do you think I am going to sign up for a real "drop dead date", ... well maybe as a consultant. What did you say the going rate is? I just wish I knew COBOL.

Tom

TED,

On a lighter note. Did you happen to notice the excellent threadmenship (or is it threadpersonship) of the FBNA mailroom clerk.

WOW! post number 8888. A quadruple bagger. 4-digits, and a two dimensional palindrome (mirror image and an upside down mirror image). If you were to rotate each number 90 degrees then you have four infinities. I wonder how much that is? Definitely a StarSeed number.

Regard

Tom

Rumor has it that Bob Bemer is featured in the January 12th edition of the New Yorker Magazine. Can't find it on-line, but I presume it should be in a bookstore near you.
