BarnesandNoble.com, a subsidiary of Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS - news), today announced that sales for the nine-week holiday season, ending January 3, 1998, were $5.6 million.

Thats it!? 5.6 million in sales for the busiest part of the book selling season? And they have been operational for a year already? I don't see how AMZN shareholders are expecting such blowout numbers when a tried and true company with a virtually identical product did so poorly............

I mean at the close of business today AMZN had a market cap of nearly 1.8 billion dollars!? With sales at BKS for the holiday season on the 'net of just over 5 million, how can anyone in their right mind support this kind of valuation? I think this runup has been related to options expiration tomorrow, and I expect the bubble will burst soon thereafter..........;^)
