Ramsey, all: Please comment on the following. It seems clear that the Q got smacked today as a result of the SoundView downgrade of ADCT, TLAB, and LU. SoundView argues that the RBOCs will be reducing cap ex so obviously the equipment suppliers revenues will decline. My question is: accurate to knock the Q as an 'equipment supplier' to the RBOC's in the same vein as TLAB and LU? Surfer Mike doesn't think so--if the RBOC's revenues are declining in wireline local calls and Sprint's PCS roll-out is kicking hind end, why wouldn't the RBOC's devote a greater percentage of their cap ex to wireless? Probably too simplistic, but for God's sake I just bought more at 46 (caught the low) and now I'm in the deep, deeper, and deepest club. Therefore only respond if you agree with my reasoning. :) ****off topic*** My daughter is in Spain this year ostensibly for educational purposes. No way for a gringo (or anybody else) to get a phone hooked up in Seville without a six month wait and a couple of zillion pesetas. So she bought a used cell phone, regrettably GSM, no choice. I know engineer and Michael will think this is incredibly mundane but it just blows my mind--we gave her a buzz thinking to catch her in her apartment or the library (dads just don't get it). Well, the little devil answered in a bar in Cordoba (gotcha) and if that isn't just so cool (the fact that it found her, not the social implications) I don't know what is. How the hell does the call go from San Francisco to a bar in wherever? Regret to say that the damned GSM call was clear as a bell--except for the tinkling of ice cubes and a few hearty ole's (evidently Spain's soccer team was doing to the Greek's what Green Bay did to the Niners). Brave new world or what? Mike Doyle
