What does CLECs stands for? Any relationship to "Customer-premises equipment"?CLEC - Competitive Local Exchange Carrier provides alternative local voice & data service to business & residence thereby competing again RBOCs like BellSouth. Some CLECs in the BellSouth region are:

ACSI, AT&T, Brooks Fiber, Cybernet (Knology),
DeltaCom, Hyperion, ICI, ICG, KMC Telecom,
MCIMetro, MediaOne, MFS, MGC
Communications, National Tel, Nextlink, Shell
Offshore Services, Southeast Tel., Sprint Metro,
Teleport, Time Warner and US LEC.

CPE literally means Customer Premise Equipment in a loose sense.
