Um, probably true. But they are a very fast growing theater and we could benefit from that growth, if we were smarter about our alliances with them. Instead, we are ceding the field to China. Not sure why we are doing that. The best way to ensure that more countries in LATAM don't go the way of Venezuela is not by the constant threats and coups, but more in the persistent trade relations and increasing bilateral trade deals that ease the flow of goods and people between our countries. The fact that we have failed to bring Latin America into our fold is an abominable failure of US Foreign Policy and an unforgivable lack of vision.
