Jim,

We need consistency. I say two more quarters like this in a row, I'll be doing fine. We're kind of unlucky, too. If the Asian thing broke out a year sooner when we wrote off the SJ plant, it'd be perfect by now. But then, this kind of crisis does provide an opportunity like the Chinese say, right? I'm optimistic tomorrow. Asia looks good so far. Hope it holds through the night.

This lack of respect is something I've always wondered about. It's always interesting to watch other tech stocks jump by 2, 3, 4 points while VLSI drops. Or watching VLSI drop 10 points in two days when management hints that Q1 will be a little soft compared to Q4 -- also normal considering that most of the handsets are sold at Christmas as with other consumer products -- this gives a little bit of a cyclical flavor to the results, but for the year growth is very positive.

I'm looking forward to a good year and expect that we will see a good steady climb until Q1 results, perhaps a little hiccup as the results are announced because it will be less than Q4, then climb again through the summertime as the growth become more palpable. I think the new management team is doing a good job putting into place what's needed to earn some consistent respect, but it takes time.

My 2 cents worth - and probably worth less than that ;)

Happy trading,
Ed
