Trump is exactly what vast swaths of the American people want. It's all bunk. It's all fantasy. That's what reality TV is. It allows the viewer to participate in a fantasy. A few years back, I was eating lunch at a bar counter and the bartender said to me exactly what I had realized many years prior. She said she couldn't understand how so many people could come in here and talk about absolutely nothing for hours on end. Bingo! I learned many years ago that anything anyone tells you in a bar is meaningless. Any promises made in a bar are meaningless. Bars are a fantasy land, and bars are very popular. Toby Keith had a hit song about the neighborhood bar where "let's get drunk and be somebody". A few hours of fantasy in an otherwise boring and unappreciated life. That's what Trump provides his supporters. He gives people who are unappreciated a fantasy that they can experience just like Toby Keith's song. This is the allure that Trump has. That's all it is. To his credit, he has managed to build that phoniness into an empire that got him the White House. Now, the power of the con artist is not in applying the con. Their power comes from their victims refusing to accept that they have been conned. They can't let go of the fantasy. They will reject these any and all findings related to Trump and his party. The Republican Party of my youth is no more. It is now the Trumplican Party, some kind of rare party where facts, honor and truth no longer matter. All that matters is what their 'lord and savior' tells them. Long live the KIng because the King is all they have. Their party is on life support. When the old ones die and no new ones heed the call, they will have been just a memory of the 20th century Grand Ol' Party. Greed and power trumped virtue and integrity. At one time, I never considered leaving the Republican Party, but as the ol' saying goes..... "I didn't leave my party.... the party left me." thenewsblender
